This was a day long ride to get an idea of how comfortable I'll be on long rides. I've done quite a few but I'm trying to be safer these days and wear more protective gear. By the end of the day we'd only covered 327 miles but we took 11 1/2 hours to do it. It wasn't that we spent a lot of time sitting still. We just did a lot of slow roads and didn't hurry anywhere. If you have Google Maps installed you can download this Google Earth track and see where I was when I took each of the pictures.
This ride started out with me needing to go to the nearest BMW motorcycle dealer. I've been there too many times recently so I didn't take any pictures on the way out. Leaving there and riding back across this bridge/dam I thought the construction cranes might be interesting. Unfortunately I didn't think of it until I was too far along to get my camera up and shooting.
I like this old time looking water tower.
And some old looking buildings mixed with modern.
We had these gray skies most of the day. The only rain we got was sitting at the BMW dealer. Note the distinct lack of traffic on this Wednesday morning.
We passed this house and I just had to double back and get some pictures. Some is definitely dropping some coin on this.
And they're building a nice outbuilding.
From the main road there's too much traffic at this spot to stop and get a clearer shot.
Long distance shot of what I think is an old railroad bridge below Ocoee Dam 1
Closer view. Well, more zoomed.
A pull out along the Ocoee.
The workings along one of the power houses.
I missed shooting some really cool overhanging rocks along the road here. Since I had my camera out and ready now I thought I'd take a picture of something.
We had to stop for road construction and this wall was next to me.
Site of the 1996 Olympics river events. Pretty nice area and still used.
