Clip on Camaro

I got some surprise help from a neighbor while my father in law was also around. With all the help we dropped the front clip back on the Camaro. I’d been finished for a few weeks and just waiting for some help at this.

The car is finished and we drove it yesterday. Next I need to try to figure out what’s up with the carb. It just doesn’t feel right. There are several rattles still present from the exhaust being too close to the frame and possibly from the jack in the trunk. My goal is to make it quiet and solid.

Shore defense from WWII

We went out to see Fort Miles while we were in the area. Very cool shore defense installation from World War II. They had some gun emplacements of 6″ and 8″ guns and a 12″ gun from a battleship that was there for cleaning up and display. I want to see what the 16″ guns look like but we were limited on time when we were there.

We could get up close to the 8″ and 6″ guns as well as some anti aircraft guns placed around. We also climbed the spotter towers. I know I’ve got more pictures to add to this somewhere.

Another day another raccoon

For the third day in a row we woke to a raccoon in the trap. Too bad we have to return the borrowed trap. There may well be more of them that run in a pack.

Also again we saved a box turtle. Two in fact. We have them in a box to show the kids before we place them into a garden to feast on worms and such.

These two have the most head markings of the four we’ve just caught.

Nature Day

The day started with a raccoon in the trap so I put it in the truck to relocate. On the way out of the neighborhood we found this.

We picked him up from the middle of the road to take home for our back yard. While putting him by the lake in the woods we spotted this.

After cleaning up some debris along the lake and seeing a skink too quick for a picture I spotted this in the garden where Nat was working.

Later I expect to spot a couple of rugrats.

engine

The engine block in my father in law’s boat was spraying water so we investigated. I found bondo covering something. A grinder showed that it was welded in the past. After cleaning I used JB Weld to cover and fill any voids. Tomorrow will tell if the operation was successful.

Well the next day showed that this fix held. Unfortunately the freeze plug just above this started leaking when the block held pressure. Then with the boat in the water we found water streaming in through the transom somewhere. Time to cut our losses and sell this thing.
